Alex Pacheco (co-founder of PETA and former member of Sea-Shepherd) started an exciting project to solve the stray overpopulation problem:
“600 Million Stray Dogs Need You” (“600”).
The goal is to develop (non-profit) scientific formulas such as “super birth control pills” for animals.
One such formula has already been approved for dogs, but is limited in its ability to end the overpopulation problem because it has to be administered manually.
Scientists are working to expand into formulas that can be administered orally and through food, which can be fed to stray animals running at large. Such formulas will allow the stray dog and cat overpopulation problems to be solved without killing and without surgery.
Please read the introduction letter from 600’s Scientific Director, Dr. Jeffrey Young.
